چکیده
The LIM-homeodomain (LIM-HD) family of transcription factors is well known for its functions during several developmental processes including cell fate specification, cell migration and axon guidance, and its members play fundamental roles in hippocampal development. The hippocampus is a structure that displays striking activity dependent plasticity. We examined whether LIM-HD genes and their co-factors are regulated during kainic acid induced seizure in the adult rat hippocampus as well as in early postnatal rats, when the hippocampal circuitry is not fully developed. We report a distinct and field-specific regulation of LIM-HD genes , and , LIM-only gene Lhx1, Lhx2 Lhx9 , and cofactor in the adult hippocampus after seizure induction. In Lmo4 Clim1a contrast none of these genes displayed altered levels upon induction of seizure in postnatal animals. Our results provide evidence of temporal and spatial seizure mediated regulation of LIM-HD family members and suggest that LIM-HD gene function may be involved in activity dependent plasticity in the adult hippocampus 1,2 1,3 1,4 1

متن کاملThe effect of sodium thiopental as a GABA mimetic drug in neonatal period on expression of GAD65 and GAD67 genes in hippocampus of newborn and adult male rats
Objective(s): Development of the nervous system in human and most animals is continued after the birth. Critical role of this period in generation and specialization of the neuronal circuits is confirmed in numerous studies. Any pharmacological intervention in this period may result in structural, functional or behavioral abnormalities. In this study, sodium thiopental a GABA mimetic drug was a...
متن کاملIncreasing the Effectiveness of Carbamazepine by Low Frequency Electrical Stimulation During CA1 Hippocampal Kindling on Seizure Scales in Adult Male Rats: An Experimental Study
Background and Objectives Nowadays, the application of Low Frequency Stimulations (LFS) has been considered as an alternative treatment in drug-resistant epileptic patients. So, the aim of this study was to determine the co-administration effects of LFS and carbamazepine (CBZ) during epileptogenesis in dorsal hippocampus using electrical Kindling method on seizure scales in adult male rats. ...
متن کاملGABA-mediated membrane oscillations as coincidence detectors for enhancing synaptic efficacy in the developing hippocampus
Spontaneously occurring neuronal oscillations constitute a hallmark of developmental networks. They have been observed in the retina, neocortex, hippocampus, thalamus and spinal cord. In the immature hippocampus the so-called ‘giant depolarizing potentials’ (GDPs) are network-driven membrane oscillations characterized by recurrent membrane depolarization with superimposed fast action potentials...
